Dr. Hsia is a native of the Bay Area and attended UCLA for college, then completed his medical school at Case Western Reserve University with honors.  He then returned to the Bay Area and completed his residency and glaucoma fellowship at the UCSF, where he received the prestigious Heed Fellowship. After his training, Dr. Hsia stayed on at UCSF as an assistant professor and served as the medical director of the UCSF Berkeley outpatient center.  In 2022, Dr. Hsia left UCSF and joined Diablo Eye Associates in Walnut Creek.  Dr. Hsia has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on glaucoma. He served on the clinical committee of the Young Eye Surgeon Society and editorial board for EyeSustain, a global coalition on sustainability in ophthalmic surgery.  In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys traveling, cooking, working on cars, and spending time with his family.
